Grand View University Athletic Director Troy Plummer announced today that the University will start a varsity cheerleading program in 2011-12. Cheer has been a club sport the past three years at GV. With the addition of cheerleading, Grand View will now offer 21 intercollegiate sports.

"Recently, the NAIA has designated Competitive Cheer as an emerging sport. Grand View has supported cheer for a number of years at the club level and we are excited to elevate the sport to varsity status," said Grand View Athletic Director Troy Plummer.

Stacie Horton will be the Head Coach of the cheer squad. Horton has been the GV Competitive Dance Coach for 10 years and the cheerleading club sponsor for the past three years.
