The Viking baseball team travelled to Minneapolis, MN for four games this past weekend against Midland University out of Fremont, NE.  Grand View swept the four game series with Midland to bring their overall record on the young season to 4-4.

The Vikings came away from game one with an 8-5 victory over the Warriors.  Grand View was led in the first game offensively by senior Dane Carlson (St. Michael, MN).  Carlson led the Vikings with three hits in four at bats, including two RBIs and one run scored.  The Vikings offense compiled eight total runs, as they got hits from seven of their nine starters.  Lead-off man Brady Wathen (Ankeny, IA) finished with two hits and two RBIs.  Freshman Zac Smit (Poulsbo, WA) and senuior Tyler Brown (Omaha, NE) both went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Vikings.

In the second contest, the Vikings were led by junior pitcher Joe Ramberg (Stanchfield, MN).  Ramberg allowed only one run and three hits over his seven innings of work on the mound.  The Warriors lone run came in the third inning and Ramberg did not let another Midland runner reach second base for the entire game.

Offensively, the Vikings freshman Smit led the attack.  Smit was 3-for-3 at the plate and brought home two Vikings runners on a single in the fourth inning.  Grand View's Wathen reached base three times and scored twice to lead the Vikings in that category.
