The University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) used a late 8-0 rally to force overtime and then went on to defeat #16 Grand View (Iowa) 69-65 in the first game of the 2010 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship.

Trailing 53-44 with under three minutes to go in regulation, USF forward Kelly Hubbard scored five straight points to cut the lead to four. After a Vikings turnover, USF guard Matt Malloy nailed a three-pointer, the first of the game for the Cougars, to make it a one point game. The teams exchanged baskets and with Grand View leading by one, Vikings guard Grant Burns converted 1-of-2 free throws to lead 56-54 with 20 seconds left. USF, however, tied the game off another basket by Malloy and Grand View came up empty on two attempts to win it regulation.

The Grand View men's and women's basketball teams will both play in the NAIA Div II Championship opening rounds on Wednesday.

The Midwest Collegiate Conference has announced its men's basketball all-conference honors for the 2009-10 season. Twenty-two athletes were recognized on the all-conference teams as voted by the coaches, including 10 to the First Team and 12 as Honorable Mention.

Three Grand View players earned All-Conference honors. Senior forward Corey Viet (Ackley, Iowa) and senior point guard Grant Burns (Monroe, Iowa) were voted to the First Team and senior guard Greg Schulz (Carroll, Iowa) to the Honorable Mention Team. The honors are repeat selections, all three players earning the same awards last season.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the 32-team bracket for the 19th Annual Division II Men's Basketball National Championship, held March 10-16 in Point Lookout, Mo.

No. 16 Grand View (25-7) will face No. 17 (24-9) Sioux Falls of South Dakota at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 10 The Vikings are the No. 16 seed; Sioux Falls is unseeded. The game will be broadcast live on www.gvcradio.com

For ticket information, call 417-335-NAIA. Action tips off on March 10 with games starting at 8:30 a.m. CST the first three days. In all, there are 31 games spanning seven days.

Two Viking athletes were honored by the Midwest Collegiate Conference Monday. Senior forward Corey Viet (Ackley, Iowa) and freshman guard Jennifer Jorgensen (Dayton, Iowa) were voted as the MCC Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week.

Last week, Viet averaged 17.7 points and 5.3 rebounds and shot 64.7% from the floor in leading the Vikings to the MCC Tournament championship and an automatic berth in the NAIA Division II National Tournament.

Jorgensen averaged 24 points, 8.5 rebounds and four assists over two games in leading the Vikings to the MCC championship game Monday night. She also shot 15-for-17 (88.2%), including 6-for-6 on three-pointers, and hit 85.7% from the free throw line as well.
