A field goal with 27 seconds remaining by Peru State caused the Vikings to end their inaugural season with a loss. The game was a battle up until the final seconds as the Vikings came up short by the score of 17-18. The game started with an 89 yard touchdown run on the opening kickoff by Lawrence Furlow (Humble, TX). Peru State answered back in the second quarter to even the score at 7-7. A second quarter field goal by Austin Elder (Des Moines, IA), and a Peru touchdown and missed extra point made the half time score 13-10.

The third quarter saw no points scored by either team. Daryl Ford (Houston, TX) scored on a 4 yard touchdown run half way through the fourth quarter to give the Vikings a 17-13 lead. With just under two minutes to go in the game Gregory Charles (Dayton, TX) was tackled in his own end zone for a safety to cut the Viking lead to two. Peru State was then able to get into field goal range and convert the game winning field goal with 27 seconds remaining.

The Vikings were led in passing by Gregory Charles who went 16-37 for 198 yards. Jay Medellin (Pasadena, TX) led the Vikings with 5 receptions and 102 yards. Lawrence Furlow had 60 yards on the ground on 15 carries. The loss drops the Vikings record to 2-8.

Grand View College wrapped up the home portion of their inagural season at Williams stadium with an impressive 62-14 victory over Waldorf College. The Warriors struck first on a 30 yard touchdown completion late in the first quarter before the Vikings racked up 55 unanswered points. The Viking offense was clicking on all cylinders with a balanced running and passing game with 143 yards on the ground, and 249 in the air.

Ariel Ham and Daryl Ford found the end zone on the ground for the Vikings, with Brett Ohdahl catching 2 touchdown passes; Drey Porter and Jay Medellin each caught one touchdown pass. Gregory Charles completed 13 passes for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns. Brad Schmit also completed 2 passes with one touchdown.

The victory puts the Vikings at 2-7 on the season. The Vikings will finish the season next weekend when they travel to Peru State on November 8, for a 1:00pm kickoff.

The Vikings couldn't overcome an experienced, NCAA Division II, Southwest Baptist football team and were defeated 52-14 today in Bolivar, Missouri.

Grand View held its own and trailed just 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. Catarino Cantu put the Vikes on the board with a 2-yard run at the 6:07.

The Vikings didn't fair so well in the second quarter as they were held scoreless. Southwest Baptist scored three touchdowns and a field goal in the second to lead 38-7 at the half.

Grand View College (1-5) came up short today against Kentucky Wesleyan (2-3) losing 34-13 at Williams Stadium. The game started slow with neither team being able to get any momentum on offense. The teams traded possessions until the Panthers took the lead at 7-0 on an 11 yard touchdown pass.

Iowa Wesleyan scored 26 second half points and recovered two Grand View fumbles in a 36-24 win over Grand View Saturday night in Mount Pleasant.

The Vikings were first on the scoreboard just over four minutes into the game on a field goal by Austin Elder (Des Moines, Ia.). Iowa Wesleyan took a 7-3 first quarter lead with a 1-yard touchdown run with one minute remaining in the quarter.

Grand View regained the lead three minutes into the second quarter when Jay Medellin (Pasadena, Tex.) caught a 36-yard pass from Brad Schmit (Waterloo, Ia.). The Tigers answered with a touchdown and the score was tied 10-10 at the half.
