
Five first place finishes, three national qualifying marks, and a season's best time highlighted the Viking men's track and field performances at the Wartburg Lutheran Triangular over the weekend.
Just ten points separated first and second place finishers Pete Westerkamp (4399) and Bryce Adger (4389) in the Heptathlon. The third place finisher was over two hundred points behind Adger and both Westerkamp and Adger met the NAIA qualifying marks in the event.

Viking senior Tyler Wells (Des Moines, Iowa) has been selected as the MCC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week announce Monday.
Wells was recognized for his two national qualifying performances at the Cornell Invitational in Mount Vernon last weekend. Wells won the shot put with an NAIA ‘A' qualifying mark of 52 feet, 3 ½ inches (15.94 meters) and placed second in the weight throw with a ‘B' standard throw of 54-5 ¼ (16.59m) at the Cornell Invitational, guiding the Vikings to the team title.
Wells and the Vikings will compete in Waverly on Saturday at the Wartburg Lutheran Triangular.

The Viking men's track & field traveled to Mount Vernon on Saturday to compete in the Cornell Invitational. Grand View placed in the top three in sixteen events, winning six, to take first place at the Invitational. The Vikings finished with 157 team points, ahead of St. Ambrose (124), Coe (91), Cornell (62), and Mount Mercy (55), and met two national qualifying marks.
Four individuals and two relays took first place on Saturday. Tyler Wells won the Shot Put with an NAIA ‘A" standard mark of 15.94m. He was also second in the Weight Throw with an NAIA ‘B' standard toss of 16.59m.Keonte White took first in the 60m Dash (7.15), Wes Hammer won the 200m Dash (22.78), and Pete Westerkamp took the Long Jump with a distance of 6.26m.

The Viking men's and women's track & field teams traveled to Cedar Falls on Saturday to compete in the UNI Panther Open. Three athletes hit four national qualifying marks and a school record was set along with multiple top five finishes.
Highlighting the women's results was senior Obsie Birru who placed in the top five in four events. Birru won the 3000m run in an NAIA automatic qualifying time of 10:16.71 and placed third in 1000m run with an NAIA "B" standard qualifying time of 3:03.41. She also placed third in the Mile and fifth in the 600m dash. Senior Lauryn Camp (Preston, Iowa) placed third in the weight throw with an NAIA automatic qualifying mark of 15.48m (50'-9.5")

Two members of the Grand View Track & Field team were recognized by the Midwest Collegiate Conference today for their national qualifying performances last week at the Vikings Throws Fest.
Senior Lauryn Camp (Preston, Iowa) was selected as the MCC Women's Field Athlete of the Week. Camp won the weight throw last Friday with an NAIA "A" Standard throw of 17.57m (57' 7 ¾"). Camp's distance was a school record and personal best, currently leads the NAIA, and is 36th among all divisions of collegiate throwers.

The GV track & field teams next compete at the UNI Panther Open in January 14th.
