The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Teams, as selected by the NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Selection Committee.

For the second straight season, Viking senior midfielder Luis Heitor-Piffer (Amparo, Brazil) was selected to the All-America Second Team. The two-time MCC Player of the Year was among national leaders in total assists (11th-12), total points (31st-36), game winning goals (32nd-4), and assists per game (32nd-.550).

Junior midfielder Jonny Macadam (Glasgow, Scotland) earned Honorable Mention honors for the second consecutive year. Macadam was among national leaders in total assists (29th-10), total points (31st-39), and game winning goals (32nd-4).

The No. 6 Viking men's soccer team saw their run for a national title come to an end Wednesday evening, defeated by No. 3 Baker (Kan.) 3-1 in the NAIA Men's Soccer Championship quarterfinals.

Baker scored early in the game to take a 1-0 lead in the 14thminute, but a made penalty kick by senior mid Luis Heitor-Piffer (Amparo, Brazil) in the 43rdminute tied the game 1-1 at the half.

The Wildcats scored two more goals early in the second half in the 54thand 59thminutes and held the Vikings from any scoring opportunities the remainder of the game for the win.

The No. 6 Viking men's soccer team has advanced to the NAIA Championship quarterfinals with a 5-2 win over Great Falls (Mont.) today in Orange Beach, Alabama.

A dominant first half by the Vikings made the difference in the game. GV outshot the Argonauts 12-5 and scored four goals in the first half, two by senior forward George Hunt (Evergreen, Co.) in the 6thand 23rdminutes, to hold a 4-0 halftime advantage.

Senior mid Luis Heitor-Piffer (Amparo, Brazil) and junior forward Ryan Adamson (Dumfries, Scotland) also scored in the first half in the 25thand 31stminutes.

The sixth seeded Grand View men's soccer team scored three goals in the first 22 minutes en route to a 3-1 win over MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) in the opening round of the NAIA Men's Soccer Championship held today in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Vikings came out ready to play, stunning the Pioneers with a goal just 2:15 into the game as George Hunt scored assisted by Jonny Macadam.

Grand View struck again just eleven minutes later with Sam Weeks assisting GV's second goal and the eventual game winner by Luis Heitor-Piffer in the 14thminute. Hunt was able to return the favor to Macadam, feeding him for a goal in the 22ndminute. The Vikings had one more scoring opportunity in first half after awarded a penalty kick in the 31stminute. The PK shot by Macadam went wide and Grand View led 3-0 at the half.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the pairings for the 2011 Men's Soccer National Championship Opening Round. There will be 30 teams playing at 15 on-campus sites on Nov. 19.

The winners of the National Championship Opening Round games, as well as No. 4 Mobile (Ala.), will advance to the Final Site from Nov. 28 - Dec. 3 in Orange Beach, Ala.

This year's 31 teams include 24 automatic qualifiers (conferences/independent/unaffiliated champions) and seven at-large bids, which were determined based on the final official NAIA Men's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI).

No. 6 seed Grand View (16-2-2) will host unseeded MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) (13-7-1) at Cownie Complex on Saturday, Nov. 19, in Des Moines.  The Vikings were ranked as the No. 9 team in the final NAIA Top 25 Poll.
