Grand View junior Josh Manske (Algona, Iowa) will compete this week at the renowned Trans-Mississippi Golf Championship held July 13-15 at the Denver Country Club in Denver, Colorado.

Manske will compete in the Championship Division of the event that consists of three 18-hole rounds. He is scheduled to tee-off at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday and his performances can be followed at the Trans-Miss Championship website.

The Vikings golf team finished their 2010 spring season with a sixth place finish at last week's NAIA National Tournamet in Silvis, IL. Grand View, ranked number 14th in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll, shot a tournament low of 291 in the third round of the tournament to help lead them to a top-10 finish. The NAIA All-America Committee rewarded the Vikings for their strong play by selecting Josh Manske and Graeme Molloy to its All-America team.

Sophomore Josh Manske capped off his First-Team All-Conference season by earning All-American status. The sophomore from Algona, Iowa was one of 15 players to be selected by the All-America Committee to the NAIA Men's Golf All-America First Team.

Manske, a two-time Midwest Collegiate Conference First-Team selection, finished his season at the NAIA National Championships last week in Silvis, IL. In his first appearance at the national tournament, Manske finished 14th individually and helped lead the Vikings to a sixth best overall score.

The fourth and final round of the NAIA Men's Golf Championships took place today at TPC Deere Run Golf Course in Silvis, Ill. The Grand View golf team began the final round in fifth place after shooting a tournament low score of 291 on Thursday. The Vikings were solid again today with a team score of 302 to give the team the sixth best overall score at the Championships and the highest finish in program history.

Two Grand View players finished in the top 20 of the individual standings. Junior Rick Fee (Phoenix, Ariz.) placed 11th overall with a four-day score of 294 (77-74-71-72) and sophomore Josh Manske (Algona, Iowa) finished 14th (69-78-72-77). Both Fee and Manske were named to the All-Tournament team, an honor given to the top 16 individuals.

The Grand View men's golf team jumped from 16th place to fifth place in the team standings today after a phenomenal day at the NAIA Championships in Silvis, Ill. The Vikings shot a 291, the lowest score of the day and matched the lowest score shot by any team at the tournament. Third place Oklahoma Christian University also shot a 291 Tuesday for the lead after the first round of the championships.

Sophomore Josh Manske (Algona, Iowa) shot a 72 today and is in a four-way tie for fourth place with 219. Junior Rick Fee (Phoenix, Ariz.), shot his best round yet with a 71 and is in a three-way tie for 12th place (222). Freshman Aaron Ahrendsen (Manning, Iowa) had the best round of all GV golfers today with a 70 and is in a six-way tie for 23rd place (225).

The Vikings men's golf team is currently placed sixteenth after two rounds of the NAIA Men's Golf Championships at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Grand View began the second round in sixth place, but after 18 holes on Wednesday they fell out of the top ten.


South Carolina-Beaufront began the day trailing Oklahoma Christian University and Oklahoma City University. However, South Carolina-Beaufront put together a second day team score of 294 to move into a second place tie with Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma City and Malone College. All four of these teams are tied with a two-round team total of 592.

Currently in sixth place is Victoria (597), while there is a three-way tie for seventh place between Holy Names Universtiy, University of The Cumberlands and Indiana Wesleyan (598). Completing the top ten is Texas Wesleyan University who trails the seventh place teams by one stroke (599).
