        <title>[Women's Basketball] Grand View Posts 63-53 Win Over Minot State</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;Grand View notched a 63-53 win over Minot State (N.D.) in first-round action Wednesday at the 19th Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Grand View jumped out to an early lead due to strong inside play by Bailey Schechinger and Danielle Ballard and aggressive play by guard Jennifer Jorgensen. The Vikings build a 31-19 midway through the first half. Minot State finished the half with a 13-1 run and the score was tied 32-32 at the break. &lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <title>[Men's Basketball] Vikings Knocked Off by Sioux Falls in OT in First Round of Men's Tourney</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;The University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) used a late 8-0 rally to force overtime and then went on to defeat #16 Grand View (Iowa) 69-65 in the first game of the 2010 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Trailing 53-44 with under three minutes to go in regulation, USF forward Kelly Hubbard scored five straight points to cut the lead to four. After a Vikings turnover, USF guard Matt Malloy nailed a three-pointer, the first of the game for the Cougars, to make it a one point game. The teams exchanged baskets and with Grand View leading by one, Vikings guard Grant Burns converted 1-of-2 free throws to lead 56-54 with 20 seconds left. USF, however, tied the game off another basket by Malloy and Grand View came up empty on two attempts to win it regulation.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <title>[Women's Indoor Track and Field] Hughes, Birru &amp; Camp Named MCC Track &amp; Field Athletes of the Week</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;Grand View's Steven Hughes (Grimes, Iowa), Obsie Birru (Des Moines, Iowa), and Lauryn Camp (Preston, Iowa) have been selected as this week's Midwest Collegiate Conference Track &amp;amp; Field Athletes of the Week for their performances at the NAIA National Championships last weekend.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hughes placed fifth and earned All-American status in the Heptathlon scoring 4.652 points. Birru was second in the 5,000m Run in a time of 17:15.13 for All-American status. Camp placed fourth in the Weight Throw with a toss of f 16.6 meters. The Viking women finished in 14&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; place overall. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Viking track &amp;amp; field teams start the outdoor season on March 20&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; at the Central Methodist Open in Fayette, Missouri. Events begin at 10 a.m.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <title>[Baseball] Vikings Drop Doubleheader at Avila</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;The Vikings traveled to Kansas City over the weekend to take on Avila University where they dropped a doubleheader 15-5 and 7-3. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Vikings clung on to a 3-2 lead going in to the bottom of the third, but the Eagles scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 7-3 lead. The Vikings responded in the top of the fifth with A.J. Krist (West Des Moines, Iowa) and Chris Cutler singles (Des Moines, Iowa). Jeff Brooks (Forest Lake, Minn.) doubled to bring in Krist, and Kyler Morgan (Carlisle, Iowa) singled to bring in Cutler to cut the Eagles lead 7-5. The Eagles exploded for seven runs in the fifth to take a commanding 13-5 lead. The Vikings could not push anymore runs across in the top of the sixth inning and the Eagles tacked on two more runs to end the game. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cameron Olinger (Puyallup, Wash.) hit his first home run of the season and drove in two runs. Jeff Brooks ended up with two hits in the first game to highlight the Vikings.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;Grand View junior Glenn Rhees (Atascadero, Calif./North Iowa Area CC) used a single-leg takedown on the edge of the mat to take a 3-1 decision in sudden victory over California Baptist's Enock Francois for the national championship at 174 pounds. Neither wrestler was able to generate any offensive scoring during regulation, but each tallied an escape at the beginning of the second and third periods, respectively, to deadlock the match at 1-1 and force an additional 60 seconds of action. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Rhees becomes Grand View's second national wrestling champion in the Vikings' two-year program history.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;The final day of the NAIA Indoor Track &amp;amp; Field Championships wrapped up today in Johnson City, Tennessee. Two athletes represented the Vikings today, both with remarkable performances. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sophomore standout Obsie Birru (Des Moines, Iowa) took second place and became an All-American in the women's 5,000m Run in a time of 17:27.52 just behind winner Lauren Jimison of Azusa Pacific (17:15.13).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Grand View women's team finished with 13 points for 14&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; place in the team standings.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <title>[Wrestling] Rhees Competes for National Title on Saturday</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;Nine Viking wrestlers competed for Grand View on day two of the NAIA Championships today in Oklahoma City. Junior Glenn Rhees is the only Viking wrestler that remains in the championship bracket and will compete for a national title at 174 lbs. on Saturday night. Rhees had a fall over Shane Bennett of Dakota State and a 3-1 decision over Notre Dame's Cody Butz.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Brad Lower (165) was defeated by defending national champion Aaron Winning of McKendree just one match away from the title bout. Lower will wrestle Saturday for a chance to place in the top five. Jordaryl Logan will wrestle for seventh place against Evan Hinebauch of MSU-Northern. Saturday's session of medal-round matches gets underway at 10 a.m. with third, fifth and seventh-place matches taking to the mat.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;Grand View is currently 10th in the team standings with 56.5 points.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;Day two of the NAIA Indoor Track &amp;amp; Field Championships has come to an end, and what it day it was for the Grand View track &amp;amp; field teams. The Vikings ended the day with three athletes earning All-American status.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Senior Steven Hughes (Grimes, Iowa) was the first to become an All-American for Grand View today. Hughes completed the final three events in the Heptathlon and placed 6&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; in the 60m Hurdles (9.05), 4&lt;SUP&gt;th &lt;/SUP&gt;in the Pole Vault (3.25m), and 13&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; in the 1,000m Run (3:02.20). He finished in fifth place overall with 4,652 total points.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

Notre Dame leads with 44 points followed by Southern Oregon (38), Missouri Valley (32), McKendree (31), Great Falls (28), and Lindenwood (25.5). &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Michael Schultz won his first two matches with decisions over Chad Allen of Calumet College of St. Joseph (5-2) and Michel Joseph of Jamestown (9-6) at 133 lbs. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Travis Evans advanced at 133 lbs. after a 16-4 decision over Josh Rogers of Briar Cliff. Highlighting the day for Grand View was sophomore Obsie Birru who led all qualifiers with her time of 17:42.18 in the 5,000m Run and senior Steven Hughes who is in third place in the Heptathlon with 2,856 points after day one. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Birru will run in the 5,000m finals on Saturday afternoon. Hughes competed in four events today, placing in the top five in all events: 60m Dash (5th - 7.39), Long Jump (5th - 6.64m), Shot Put (2nd - 11.63m), and the High Jump (2nd - 1.99m).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The women's Distance Medley Relay team of Betsy Craig, Jordyn Schertz, Melissa Dewey, and Birru placed 12th in the preliminaries with a time of 12:34.40. The top eight advanced to the finals.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

&lt;div&gt;The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the field of 32 teams for the 19th Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship, held March 10 - 16 at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena in Sioux City, Iowa.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No. 17 (25-8) Grand View received an at-large bid to the NAIA Championships and will make its fourth appearance at the championships; its second appearance under Head Coach Garey Smith. The Vikings' last national appearance was in 2003.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The 32-team field is comprised of 20 automatic qualifiers from NAIA affiliated conferences and Association of Independent Institutions and 12 at-large selections, which are determined using the final Top 25 rating released on Feb. 22.&lt;/div&gt;</description>
