[Men's Soccer] Late Goal Lifts Vikings Past SAU to Advance to Nationals

By Lyall Menzies, Senior Forward

The Grand View men hosted a determined St. Ambrose team in the Conference Tournament Final on Thursday. Having beaten the Fighting Bees in the regular season the Vikings knew what they would have to do to get a win and a birth in the National Tournament.

The game started just like the last game against SAU as tackles were flying in from everywhere. A physical but flat start from the Vikings found them on the back foot most of the first half. The main pressure SAU were generating was from long balls and long throw-ins into the box. The men were lucky to find themselves level at half time, and that was because of a couple fantastic saves from the ever impressive sophomore GK Darren Martin.
