Seth Roberson - Assistant Coach

While setting every school record and earning seven individual conference titles over three years the Viking throwers have also placed at the Midwest Collegiate Conference championships 40 times, earned three NAIA Scholar Athlete awards, qualified for NAIA National Championships twice, and set one MCC Conference meet record. In 2008 juniors Jordan Adams and Laura Schiltz qualified for nationals in the 35 lb weight throw and the javelin. Each finished in the top 11 in the nation.

A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Roberson is also in charge of all strength and conditioning programs for student athletes at Grand View College. He also directs the Viking Strength and Conditioning Room which is part of an addition to the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center. The strength and conditioning room which opened in June of 2008 provides athletes with 10 "Power Lift" stations which allows for up to 50 athletes to train together in team setting. The room is set up for Olympic, ground based, and functional training designed to help athletes prepare for a competition at the collegiate level.

A 2002 graduate of Wartburg College, Roberson holds degrees in physics and secondary education. In his time at Grand View College he has developed year round programs resulting in major gains in strength, explosive abilities, flexibility, and conditioning levels. Four times Grand View student athletes have earned National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American Awards under his guidance.

Roberson is also the lead instructor each winter at the Viking Throws Clinic held on the campus of Grand View College. Over the past three years the clinic has seen participants from five states and has produced 11 Drake Relays qualifiers and 55 high school state meet qualifiers. Of those qualifiers 17 advanced to the finals in their events and three were crowned state champions.

Coach Roberson came to Grand View from Wartburg College where he served as the assistant throws and strength and conditioning coach for the track and field programs. He helped lead Wartburg to three conference titles and the 2005 NCAA Women's National Championship. While with Wartburg he worked with six all-conference, two conference champion, a school record, and two national qualifying throwers. As a collegiate athlete Roberson competed in multiple throws events, served as a team captain, was named to four academic all-conference teams, and was a two-time academic All-American football player.
