Strength and Conditioning

Stronger, faster, more powerful, durable, and mentally tough. Grand View student-athletes can be described this way after working hard in the Viking Strength and Conditioning Program. Program coordinator Seth A. Roberson takes pride in helping athletes develop from the time the set foot on Grand View's campus. As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a full time strength and conditioning coordinator, Roberson does more than just open the door into the Viking Strength and Conditioning Room. Off season and in season programs are individually designed for each sport, position and athlete. These programs have three main goals: 1-Athletic ability development, 2-Injury prevention/reduction, and 3-Peak athlete performance.

In the summer of 2008 Grand View College opened the Viking Strength and Conditioning Room. This room is dedicated to the development of student-athletes. Some key features include:

  • 10 "Power Lift" stations
  • Approximately 3100 square feet for student-athletes training only
  • Over 10,000 lbs of training equipment
  • Allows for up to 50 athletes to train together in a team setting
  • Ability to perform Olympic movements easily
  • Access to Sisam Arena and Wellness Center floor and track, as well as outside facilities
