Athletic Facilities
Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center
The Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center, home to our athletic and recreational facilities, contains a fieldhouse, a gymnasium, a jogging/walking track, weights and exercise equipment, an aerobic area, classrooms and offices for coaches and health and physical education faculty and staff. The fieldhouse is used for home volleyball games and practice for soccer, baseball and softball teams. There are batting cages and two recreational, full-size basketball courts.A three-lane, 1/10-mile jogging/walking track encircles a 20-station Cybex circuit training area.Adjacent to the Wellness Center is the Luhrs Athletic Complex which includes baseball, softball and soccer practice fields.

Viking Strength and Conditioning Room
This 3,100 square foot state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility was added in the summer of 2008 and features ten "Power Lift" stations; 9,020 lbs of plates, dumb bells, and bars. The room allows for up to 50 athletes to train together in a team setting, the ability to perform Olympic movements easily, easy access to Sisam Arena and the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center floor and track, as well as outdoors.
 

Baseball

Home games are played on campus at the Luhrs Athletic Complex, located behind the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center.The baseball team also practices indoors in the fieldhouse.

                

   



Basketball - Men's and Women's

Home games are played in the Sisam Arena, located in the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center. Major improvements were made to the Sisam Arena during construction of the Wellness Center.The addition of this multi-million dollar facility has allowed the basketball teams unlimited practice schedules and improvements to their strength training program.
   

 
Cross Country
Ewing Park is the home of Grand View Cross Country and the annual Viking Invitational. The park is located about 6 miles south of campus and has challenging courses mapped out for the women's 5k and men's 8k races. Grand View hosted the 2005 and 2008 Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships on their home course.




Competitive Dance

Dance team training is held in the dance/aerobics room on the second floor of the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center.The room features wood support floors and mirrors.

 
         





Football
Home football games and practices are held at Williams Stadium located just south of Grand View College. The Stadium features a brand-new locker facility and will undergo major multi-million dollar improvements, including the addition of artificial turf, for the 2009 season.

Golf Men's and Women's

The golf teams practice at Briarwood Golf Course in Ankeny.Briarwood, an 18 hole, par 72 course, was given a 4-Star Rating by Golf Digest.

Soccer - Men's And Women's

Home games are played on campus at the James W. Cownie Soccer Complex, located at at 2600 East Hartford Avenue in Des Moines a few miles South of the Grand View campus.
                                                      

 
 
 
 
 
 
Softball
Home games are played on campus at the Luhrs Athletic Complex, located behind the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center.The softball team also practices indoors in the fieldhouse.

              

   

 

Volleyball

Home games are played in the fieldhouse at the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center. Training also occurs in the fieldhouse. The facility allows the volleyball team unlimited practice schedules and improvements to their weight and jump training programs.

       

 


Track and Field - Men's and Women's
The Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center provides the track & field teams with a 160m track and two multi-purpose courts to accommodate their athletes training during the indoor season.


Williams Stadium, located just south of Grand View's campus, provides an 8-lane all-weather track along with throwing and jumping venues for practices during the outdoor season.

Wrestling

Home wrestling matches are held in Sisam Arena. The team practice room, built in the summer of 2008, is located on the second floor of the Johnson Wellness Center.
