
Donan Cruz begins his first season as head coach for the Vikings. He was hired in January of 2011 to the lead the inaugural men's volleyball team at Grand View, but is no stranger to GV Athletics.Cruz has served as the assistant volleyball coach for the Viking women's team for the past three seasons. During this time, the program has risen as one of the top teams in the Midwest Collegiate Conference, winning the conference and the conference tournament in 2011. The women's team was ranked in the NAIA Top 25, ending the season as the No. 18 team in the nation, and made program's first national tournament appearance in 2011.
Cruz comes to Grand View having served as assistant coach for the IPVA 18's club team in 2009. Cruz also spent one year as the head varsity coach of the boy's volleyball team at the University of Hawai'I Laboratory High School.
Cruz played his college career at Graceland University where he was an outside hitter and defensive specialist for the Yellowjackets. He was the team captain his junior and senior seasons. Cruz graduated from Graceland in 2006 with a degree in Marketing Communications.

Makani Cantor begins his first season as assistant coach for the Viking men's volleyball team. He has also spent the past four season as assistant coach for the Viking women's volleyball program. Cantor has been an instrumental part of the Viking women's recent success including the 2011 MCC regular season and tournament titles, the program's first national tournament appearance and top 25 ranking.
Cantor comes to Grand View having served as an assistant coach at Northwestern State University and Graceland University. He also coaches for Iowa Power Volleyball Alliance as the programs 17's coach. In 2008, his team finished second in the Junior Olympic tournament. Cantor has also spent time with the Waukee Warrior Volleyball Club.
Cantor played collegiately at Graceland University. He is a financial consultant for Wells Fargo and resides in West Des Moines.
