Head coach Kirk Trow has an extensive background in tennis and longtime presence in the Des Moines area community and has been coaching tennis for 30 years.
Most recently, Trow has served as the Vice President of Administration at AIB College of Business. He hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University and a Master of Science degree in Adult Education/ Training and Development from Drake University. He and his wife Jennifer have two children Kali (Andrew) Strutzenburg and Madison.
Austin Grundy is in his second year as assistant coach with the Vikings and is an experienced tennis instructor and player. He is a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Associate Instructor and has provided tennis instruction for a summer city parks program for six years and individual and group lessons at the Sioux City Country Club and Four Seasons Health Club for four years.
A decorated collegiate player, Grundy competed at No. 1 singles for four years at Morningside College. He was a four-time Great Plains Athletic All-Conference selection in singles (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) and also in doubles in 2013. He holds Morningside records for most single victories with 13 (2010-11, 2013-14) and career victories with 45 (2010-14) as well as most doubles victories in a season with 12 (2012-13) and combined career victories (80).
In high school, Grundy placed twice at the Iowa State High School 2A Tennis Championships, fifth in 2012 and eighth in 2009. He was the Sioux City Journal Metro Athlete of the Week in May of 2010.
