2017-18 Women's Bowling Coaches
Melody Felton
Head Coach - 7th Season

Melody has be involved in the Grand View Bowling program for the past seven years starting out as the men's and women's assistant coach for the past six before becoming head coach
last season. 

She has helped guide the women's team in qualifying for the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships three out of the past four years where they had a top finish of third. This also is the first year that an individual bowler qualified for the National singles, (Jr.) Hannah Munson had that honor. Also (Jr.) Rebecca Broerman was named NAIA Player of the Year and First Team All-American. At Nationals, she was voted Second Team All-American and Player of the Year Honorable Mention. Former player Brittany Smith was named National Rookie of the Year and
First Team All-American in 2013 and Player of the Year in 2016. The women placed 12th out of 124 teams this past season in the Intercollegiate Team Rankings and have finished in the top ten
the past four years.
 
Melody has an extensive bowling background. Growing up in her parent's bowling center, she began sanction league play at age five. She has a total of nine sanctioned 300 games and a high series of 827. Also to her credit: a National Double's title, a PWBA regional title, holds the State doubles record of 1504 with partner Lisa Lihs, has won the BPAA Top Amateur Tournament in 1990, has accumulated 16 Iowa State titles, and has 17 Greater Iowa Tournament championships. Melody was also a  member of the Professional Women's Bowling Association from 1992 to 2003 and belonged to the prestigious Lind's Northern Stars team located out of Minnesota for five years. Melody belongs to three Hall of Fames: Jasper Co., Greater Des Moines, and the Iowa Women's State.
 
Melody was a former owner of Triangle Lanes in Colfax, IA for ten years and spent eleven years as Youth Director for Bowlerama Lanes in Des Moines, IA. She has been a USBC Certified Silver Level Instructor since 1999. She has been a USBC certified Silver Level Instructor since 1999. She was a volunteer coach for two years for the Iowa State Bowling Club and coached Iowa High School Bowling for 10 years at East High for six years and Lincoln for four. During that time, her Lincoln boys team qualified for State four times and won two State Championships. Melody was also named Conference Coach of the Year in 2010. In 2013 & 2014 she was listed as one of the Top 100 Coaches in the Nation.
 
Melody and her husband Keith are owners of K.O.'s Pro Shop located inside Plaza Lanes Bowling Center in Des Moines, IA. They have two grown sons, Jamie and Joel and
currently reside in Colfax, IA.

 
Keith Felton
Associate Head Coach - 7th Season

Keith Felton has served as a volunteer assistant men's and women's bowling coach for the past six years and Associate Head Coach the past season. Keith was very instrumental in guiding the Lady Vikings to the UCBC Collegiate Team Nationals this past season. The women also finished 12th out of 124 teams in the Collegiate National Team Rankings and previously were in the top ten the past four years.   

Keith was a volunteer coach for High School bowling for four years and a volunteer coach for the Iowa State Bowling club for two years. He has been a USBC Certified Bronze level instructor since 1999.

To his credit, Keith has 35 sanctioned 300 games and four 800 series. His team placed third at the USBC Men's Open in 2007. He has several state and city titles and was inducted into the Jasper Co. and Greater Des Moines Hall of Fames.

Keith worked for AT&T for 30 years. After retiring, he and his wife, Melody, moved their part-time pro shop from Colfax, IA to Des Moines, IA in the fall of 1999. K.O.'s Pro Shop is now located inside Plaza Lanes Bowling Center. Keith and Melody currently reside in Colfax, IA and have two grown sons, Jamie and Joel.
