The Viking men's soccer team recorded its third shutout of the season and has started the season 4-0 after a 4-0 win over visiting Briar Cliff Saturday night in Des Moines.

Jonny MacAdam put GV on the board in the first half on PK following a penalty issued to the Briar Cliff keeper in the 19th minute. He Vikings added two goals for insurance within a four-minute stretch in the second half. Ryan Adamson drilled one in past the BC keeper in the 54th minute followed by a score by Luis Heiter-Piffer initiated by Wes Dawson's corner kick in the 58th minute.

The Vikings closed the match strong scoring its final goal in the 88th minute with Noel Medina connecting on a pass from Fraser Marsh. In all, twenty players saw action for Grand View on Saturday.

GV dominated Briar Cliff in shots, 28-7, and in shots on goal 14-4. Goalkeeper Darren Martin made four saves for his third shutout of the year.

The Vikings host two matches this week at Cownie with Morningside on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. and the University of Davenport Saturday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m.
