The Vikings of Grand View capped off a great weekend home tournament with two victories on Saturday afternoon. The first victory came in dramatic fashion, as the Vikings defeated Park University (1-3) in a tight four-game match. The second match of the afternoon came against Missouri Valley and the Vikings were able to finish the weekend with a three-game sweep.

Grand View (5-0) was led by sophomore Devon Jensen's two-match total 38 kills. Jensen led the Vikings in kills in all four matches this weekend, including 20 kills in the final match against Missouri Valley. Leading the Vikings in the assist column for the weekend was freshman Paige Harris, who tallied 39 and 33 assists on Saturday afternoon.

In the opening match against Park, the Vikings were able to take the first game in thrilling fashion (28-26). However, Park University came back to take the second match 25-20, marking only the second time all weekend the Vikings had dropped a game. The next two games of the first match were hard fought, as the Vikings were able to make the plays down the stretch to take both games 25-23.

In the final match of the weekend, Grand View was able to gain early momentum against Missouri Valley. The Vikings took the first two games 25-16 and 25-17. The final game was much closer, as Missouri Valley battled but came up short, falling to the Vikings 25-23.

The Vikings will return to action Friday and Saturday at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Grand View will take on Dordt College in the opening game of the Sioux Falls Tournament. The Vikings will then take on MidAmerica Nazerene in the second contest on Friday night at 8:00 pm. Grand View will be home next when they open the conference season on September 8th against Iowa Wesleyan College.
