Vikings advance to NAIA National Tournament with 4-1 victory

In the final game of the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament the Grand View Vikings came through with a 4-1 victory over Iowa Wesleyan College. With the 4-1 defeat of the Tigers, Grand View will receive the conference's automatic berth to the 2010 NAIA National Tournament.

The Tigers of Iowa Wesleyan defeated Viterbo University Tuesday morning to advance to the championship game of the double elimination tournament. The Vikings, who had defeated both Viterbo and Iowa Wesleyan, to advance to the 1:00 p.m. title game.

In the first game, the Tigers defeated Grand View 9-1. Following the 9-1 loss, the Vikings had twenty minutes to re-group prior to the final championship game. In the second game the Vikings only allowed one Tiger run, while scoring four times to take the MCC Championship in Waterloo.

The NAIA National Tournament field will be announced on May 14th, while the nine host sites will also be announced at that time. The nine National Championship Opening Round tournaments are scheduled for May 18-21. Five teams will play a double-elimination format at each site.
