Mejia's second day score of 80 moved her into a 5th place finish

Sunday marked the final round for the Midwest Collegiate Women's Golf Championship played at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny. Despite the cold weather and rain the championships, hosted by Grand View University, was played without any delays.

The Vikings started the day in sixth place after shooting a team total of 351 in the first day. Grand View was consistent in day two as well, scoring a 352, which moved them up to fourth place for the championships.

Leading after round one was Saint Ambrose University and after firing a 337 in the final round, the Queen Bees stayed atop the leader board after day two as well. Sunday's victory marked the eighth straight conference title for the Queen Bees.

Grand View's Amalia Mejia finished with a top five finish, after shooting rounds of 83 and 80. The freshman Mejia led the Vikings in scoring and her second round score of 80 was the third lowest round of the day on Sunday. Amanda West and Mackenzie Reidell finished the two rounds with a score of 181, placing them in a tie for 17th place.

The individual medalist was Saint Ambrose's Kenzie Hein, who finished the two day championships with a total score of 158. After shooting a final day 78, Clarke College's Megan Chitty was in a tie for the lead with Hein, but Hein won the medalist honors with a victory in the sudden death play-off.
