The Vikings women's golf team currently sits in sixth place at the end of day one of the Midwest Collegiate Conference Golf Championship hosted by Grand View at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.

Round one was played today and although Grand View is in sixth place after the first day, only three strokes separate the Vikings from third place Clarke College. Grand View shot a team total of 351 on Saturday, while Saint Ambrose University is atop the team standings with a team score of 326. A win by the Queen Bees of Saint Ambrose would give them their eighth straight conference title.

The Vikings are led in scoring by freshman Amalia Mejia, who shot a first round score of 83 (42-41) to place her in a tie for seventh. Sophomore Molly Engleman is a tie for twelfth place after firing a first round total of 87 (47-40). Saint Ambrose's Kenzie Hein leads the MCC Golf Championships after the first day after shooting a 6-over 77 (39-38).

The final round of the MCC Championship begins Sunday morning at 8 a.m. as the Vikings will be one of the first teams to tee off at Otter Creek in the final round.
