The Grand View University Football program has been rated as the No. 20 team in the NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Spring Poll released today.
The Vikings were 9-3 in 2009 and finished second in the Mid-States Football Association's Midwest League behind first place McKendree University (9-2) who is ranked as the No. 9 team in today's poll.
Grand View led the NAIA in turnover margin last season (+1.9) with 24 interceptions and 14 fumble recoveries. The Vikings will return 22 starters in 2010 including First Team All-Conference performer Daryl Ford (Houston, Texas). Ford ranked in the top-20 nationally in rushing and scoring in 2009 with 1,034 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Vikings lose four starters including AFCA All-American Titus Bland, who had six interceptions last year.
The University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) holds the No. 1 spot in the NAIA Top 25 Spring Poll. The Cougars notched 14 of the possible 18 first-place votes and 412 total points after wrapping up its second straight National Championship and a 15-0 season in 2009.
The 2010 Grand View football season kicks off against Black Hills State (S.D.) at home on August 28.
