The Grand View Vikings golf team got their spring season started this week in Dallas, Texas. The Vikings took part in the Dallas Baptist Patriot Invitational at the Golf Club of Dallas. The nationally ranked Vikings, currently 8th in the spring edition of the NAIA Men's Golf Coaches Top 25 Poll, fired team rounds of 295, 300 and 310 for the tournament. The three round total of 905 placed the Vikings 15th, in a very difficult field that was comprised of primarily southern schools.
Leading the way for Grand View was senior Graham Malloy (Glasglow, Scotland) with a three round total of 225. Malloy scored a 74 in each of the first two rounds and shot a 77 in the third and final round, placing him in a tie for 41st. Behind Malloy in the scoring for the Vikings was sophomore Yousaf Khan (Surrey, England). Khan's rounds of 70, 79 and 78 placed him in a tie for 53rd place. Sophomore Josh Manske scored a three day total of 228, finishing him a tie for 58th place, while junior Rick Fee placed in a tie for 61st with a score of 229. Rounding out Grand View's scoring was freshman Aaron Ahrendson who scored rounds of 75, 81 and 81 to finish with a total of 237.
The Dallas Baptist Patriot Invitational was won in a playoff by Midwestern State. Midwestern State defeated Oklahoma City in the playoff to take the tournament championship. Dallas Baptist University's Will Dusenberry finished with rounds of 69, 70 and 72 to finish first among the field of golfers at the DP Invitational.
The Vikings will be action in their home tournament on April 5th and 6th when they host the Grand View Viking Classic at the Harvester Golf Club.
