The Midwest Collegiate Conference has announced its women's basketball all-conference honors for the 2009-10 season. Twenty-one athletes were recognized as part of the all-conference teams as voted by the coaches, including 10 to the First Team and 11 to the Honorable Mention Team.
Grand View had four players named to the All-MCC team. Senior forward Bailey Schechinger (Manilla, Iowa) and freshman guard Jennifer Jorgensen (Dayton, Iowa) earned First Team honors. Senior guard Jamie Sickles (Readlyn, Iowa),and freshman forward Amy Vos (Newton, Iowa) were voted to the Honorable Mention Team.
Schechinger received her fourth MCC First Team award and has scored over 1,000 career points. Schechinger was among leaders in the MCC in scoring (15
th - 11.9 ppg), rebounding (9
th - 6.8 rpg), field goal percentage (12
th - 42.2%), and blocked shots (2
nd - 1.19 bpg).
Jorgensen was among leaders in nearly every MCC statistical category: scoring (4
th - 16.7 ppg), rebounding (6
th - 8.6 rpg), field goal percentage (6
th - 50%), assists (13
th - 2.38), free throw percentage (15
th - 70.7%), steals (10
th - 1.81 spg), blocks (5
th - .94 bpg), and minutes played (3
rd - 32.44 mpg). She was the MCC Player of the Week three times this season.
Sickles earned her second Honorable Mention honor. The Vikings' floor leader and defensive stopper was 14
th in the MCC in assists (2.25 apg), three-point field goal percentage (38.3%), and three-point field goals made (1.13 pg).
Sixth-man Vos finished sixth in the MCC in field goal percentage (50%) and 13
th in rebounding (5.7 rpg), and 20
th in scoring (9.8 ppg).
The Vikings finished second in both the MCC regular season and the MCC Tournament behind No. 13 Iowa Wesleyan. The ladies (25-8) have earned an at-large bid to the NAIA Div II National Championships and play Minot State on Wednesday, March 10, at 12 p.m. at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City.
