Two Viking athletes were honored by the Midwest Collegiate Conference Monday. Senior forward Corey Viet (Ackley, Iowa) and freshman guard Jennifer Jorgensen (Dayton, Iowa) were voted as the MCC Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week.

Last week, Viet averaged 17.7 points and 5.3 rebounds and shot 64.7% from the floor in leading the Vikings to the MCC Tournament championship and an automatic berth in the NAIA Division II National Tournament.

Jorgensen averaged 24 points, 8.5 rebounds and four assists over two games in leading the Vikings to the MCC championship game Monday night. She also shot 15-for-17 (88.2%), including 6-for-6 on three-pointers, and hit 85.7% from the free throw line as well.

The Viking men return to the NAIA Div II Men's Championships in Point Lookout, Missouri, March 10-16. The women will learn if they have received an at-large bid to the NAIA Div II Women's Championships March 10-16 in Sioux City. Both brackets will be released on Wednesday afternoon.
