The Viking men's track & field team competed at the Wartburg Triangular today in Waverly. Sophomore Tyler Wells (Des Moines, Iowa) took first place in the Shot Put with a toss of 15.17m. The 4x400m Relay tea of Titus Bland (Baytown, Texas), Matt Smalley (Altoona, Iowa), Tariq White (Des Moines, Iowa), and Pete Westerkamp (Clarinda, Iowa) placed second in a school record time of 3:27.53.

GV took second in two events; Justin Cassidy (Ankeny, Iowa) in the 400m Dash (51.71) and the 4x800m Relay team of Taelor Bohnsack (Wilton, Iowa), Drew Messerschmidt (Dallas Center, Iowa), Brian Dewey (Pocahontas, Iowa) and Nick Newcomb (Altoona, Iowa) in 8:32.95.

Coming in third was Bland in the 55m Dash (6.64) and the Long Jump (6.50m), Lawrence Furlow (Humble, Texas) in the 200m Dash (23.05), Steven Hughes (Grimes, Iowa) in the High Jump (1.87m), Smalley in the Pole Vault (3.35m), and the 4x200m Relay team of Furlow, Cassidy, Justin Gutknecht (Cumming, Iowa), and White (1:33.88).

The Vikings next compete at the NAIA Championships March 4-6 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
