Micah Reed paced Vikings with 19 points and six assists
The No. 18 Viking women secured the No. 2 seed for the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament that begins next week with a 66-60 win over Mount Mercy (18-11, 10-5 MCC) tonight in Cedar Rapids.

The Vikings recovered from an early seven-point deficit and led by as many as six before taking a 35-30 advantage into the break. Senior Micah Reed (Cedar Rapids Iowa) paced the Vikings with 15 first half points.

Grand View built a 12-point lead early in the second half and was able to hang on down the stretch. Mount Mercy got within four points several times in the second half, and a Mustang layup with :32 left in the game put MMC within four points. Four straight free throws by Reed and another by Bailey Schechinger (Manilla, Iowa) sealed the win.

Reed finished with a game-high 19 points and six assists. Jennifer Jorgensen (Dayton, Iowa) added a double-double 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jamie Sickles (Readlyn, Iowa) added 10 points, Amy Vos (Newton, Iowa) nine points, and Schechinger grabbed 10 boards.

The Vikings held the Mustangs to 32.3% in shooting for the night and dominated on the boards 44-28.

Grand View (23-7, 13-3 MCC) is off until the opening round of the MCC Tournament next Thursday, Feb. 25th. The Vikings' opponent and time of game is TBD.
