The Vikings traveled to Sioux City for the Briar Cliff Open on Saturday and came back with two first place finishers and ten top six finishers.

Michael Shultz (Atascadero, Calif.) was the Vikings first champion of the day winning the 133 pound weight class. He won his first match of the day against #1 seed TylerowaGrask 11-10 decision. In his quarter-final match he won by a 8-7 decision over Charles Chatman. Shultz won his semi-final match with a 7-2 decision over Ashton Griffin. He completed his perfect streak in the championship by a 10-5 decision over #2 seed Mark Jacobson.

Brad Lower (Burlington, Iowa) was the other champion for the Vikings winning the 165 pound weight class. Lower pinned all four of his opponents on his way to the championship. He took down Matt Mueller in 2:29, Jairin Potter in just :22, #5 seed Andrew Athofer in 1:39, and Jacob Begin in :39 in the championship round.

Every Grand View wrestler finished in the top six on Saturday. Justin Rau (Council Bluffs, Iowa) finished second place at 197 pounds. Issiah Sullivan (Huxley, Iowa), Glenn Rhees (Atascadero, Calif.), and Ty Knowler (Altoona, Iowa) finished third at 157 pounds, 174 pounds, and 165 pounds respectively. Travis Evans (Ankeny, Iowa), Jordaryl Logan (Detroit, Michigan), and Nick Coffman (Huxley, Iowa) finished fourth at 133 pounds, 184 pounds, and 141 pounds, and Johnny Coleman (Des Moines, Iowa) and Adam Kurimski (Fairfield, Iowa) finished in the top six at 125 pounds and 149 pounds.

The Vikings looks to finish the season strong when they travel to the Central Region National Qualifying Tournament in Oskaloosa February 20th at 9:00 a.m.
