The Vikings women's basketball team extended its winning streak to five games with a 60-41 win over Viterbo in MCC action this afternoon in Des Moines.

The V-Hawks jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, the largest lead they would hold in the game. The Vikings tied up the score 15-15 at the 11:29 mark, but Viterbo held the lead again for the next five minutes. Tied at 22 with 6:02 left, Grand View closed out the first half with a 17-8 run to lead 39-30 at the half.

The Vikings broke away from the V-Hawks in the second half building an 18-point lead by the 10:56 mark. Neither team would score for the next five minutes of the game until GV scored to take its largest lead of the game with three minutes remaining in the game and the Vikings went on to win 60-41.

Jenn Jorgensen (Dayton, Iowa) scored in double figures for the 22nd time this season leading Grand View and all scorers with 17 points along with six assists. Amy Vos (Newton, Iowa) was 6-of-10 from the floor for 14 points and Bailey Schechinger (Manilla, Iowa) added 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Vikings shot 39.7% from the field and 73.3% from the free throw line. Grand View held Viterbo to 25.6% in shooting, edged the V-Hawks on the boards 30-29, and forced 23 VU turnovers.

Grand View improves to 19-6 overall and 9-2 in the MCC. The Vikings travel to Forest City on Wednesday to take on Waldorf (6-16, 2-8 MCC) in MCC play. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
