The Viking men's and women's track & field teams competed over the weekend at the Iowa State Open in Ames.

Sophomore Obsie Birru (Des Moines, Iowa) had another great weekend for Grand View. On Friday, Birru won the 5,000m Run in an NAIA "A" standard national qualifying time of 17:53.62. She followed that performance on Saturday with a 7th place finish in the Mile with an NAIA "A" standard and school record time of 5:06.42. Birru's 8th place finish in the 800m Run was in a school record 2:21.75.

Freshman Taylor Handsaker (Nevada, Iowa) set a school record in the 600 yd. Run with a time of 1:35.34.
