It was an anticipated showdown between two of the top wrestling teams in the nation tonight at Sisam Arena in Des Moines. The No. 7 Missouri Valley Vikings would win the battle over the No. 6 Grand View Vikings 24-15. The match featured 13 wrestlers from both squads that are rated in the top 12 in the nation individually.

Missouri Valley started the night off with #4 Joe Cornejo pinning GV's Trae Reed at 157 lbs. #2 Brad Lower (GV) would even up the score with a fall against Damon Jackson in just 54 seconds at 165 lbs.

Grand View won the next two matches as #5 Glenn Rhees had an impressive 10-4 decision over MV's #4 Alex McKinney at 174 lbs. Jordaryl Logan won by decision 3-2 over #5 Jesse Alter at 184 lbs.

Missouri Valley would win the next four matches. At 197, #11 Charlie Gibbs won by decision 9-6 over #8 Justin Rau. #8 Travis Ewart won by major decision 10-1 over Tyler Wilson at 285. At 125, #11 Paulie Hanson won by decision over Johnny Coleman 10-7. At 133, Colin Pierce won by major decision 9-1 over #10 Travis Evans.

Grand View's #12 Nick Coffman scored in the final seconds of his match at 141 for a 10-9 decision over #8 Eric Graham. MV's #6 Eric Graham closed out the match with a 10-2 major decision over Adam Kurimski.

The Vikings will travel this weekend to the Central Invitational in Pella and also to the Northwestern Red Raider/Paul Bartlett Open in Orange City.
