Olathe, KS – Grand View women's soccer took down (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field. The Vikings advance to a 6-6 record overall and 3-3 in the Heart while the Pioneers drop to a 4-5-2 and 2-2-2 in the conference.

Grand View put themselves on the board first in the 34th minute of play. Morgan Block (JR/Bondurant, IA)ed served the ball into the box and Kiley Kisling (SR/Ames, IA) connected off a header to give the Vikings a 1-0 advance heading into halftime.

The Pioneers tied it up early in the second half with a goal in the 59th minutes. The lead did not stop the Vikings who continued to attack the MNU defense. In the 78th minute of play Joy Battles (SR/Gilbert, IA) crossed the ball into the box full of GVU and MNU players but Logan Johnson (JR/Altoona, IA) was able to get a foot on the ball and poke it into the back of the net. The Vikings were able to hold on the remaining minutes to defeat the Pioneers 2-1.

"It was a good win against a strong opponent," Head Coach Ventsi Stoimirov said. "The team showed tactical discipline, resilience, commitment to limit the opponent's scoring chances and desire to continue attacking until we scored the winning goal.  Both teams showed commitment to play good quality soccer despite difficult field conditions, I think at the end we created more clear scoring opportunities and were able to capitalize on two of them."

The Vikings are in action again Wednesday, October 11 against No. 14 Benedictine College in Des Moines. Kickoff is set for 5 pm.
