Indianola, Iowa – The Viking women's golf team traveled to the Indianola Country Club on September 27th to compete in the Simpson Invitational. Kim Anak Nelson (JR/Miri, Sarawak) (1) and Maria Mantilla (SR/Bogota, Colombia) (T2) finished at the top of the leaderboard to propel the team to a 3rd place finish.  


Nelson carded an impressive 1-over 72, while Mantilla shot a 6-over 77 on the single day tournament. This is Nelson's, who was named to the All-Tournament Team at the 2017 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship, first win of the 2017-18 season. Mantilla has already collected a win on the year at the Graceland Invitational.

The field was composed of some of a mixture of NAIA, NCAA Division III, and NJCCA teams. Central College out of Pella, Iowa won the event. William Penn University and Graceland University were the other Heart of America schools in attendance. Full results can be seen below.
