Des Moines, Iowa – The Grand View women's advances to a 3-1 record (5-5 overall) after defeating Mount Mercy 2-1 Tuesday evening at James Cownie Complex. The Mustangs move to a 6-4, 1-3 Heart record on the defeat.

The first half remained scoreless with only three shots from the Mustangs and four from the Vikings, with the lone shot on frame from the Vikings.

Grand View began the second half with several attacks. Ella Ritchie (SR/Derby, England) put the Vikings on the board in the 51st minute of play when she finished a reflection from the goalkeeper off a shot from Kyra Savage (JR/Crystal Lake, IL). The Savage Ritchie duo struck again in the 88th minute to seal the deal for the Vikings with Ritchie finishing the ball lower 90 off a through ball from Savage.

The Vikings outshot the Mustangs 11-2 in the second half, 5-0 on goal, respectively. Celenka Hommel (SO/Nieuw-Vossemeer, Netherlands) recorded the shutout with the strong Grand View defense did not allow Mount Mercy to put a shot on goal.

Grand View is in action next against Central Methodist University, September 30 in Fayette, MO with a kickoff time set for 7:30 pm.
