Des Moines, Iowa - The Grand View men's soccer team moved to a 2-1 record in Heart of America Athletic Conference play Saturday after falling short to No. 7 Baker in a thrilling 3-4 loss.

The Vikings took an early lead in the 12th minute of play after Claudio Repetto (FR/Genova, Italy) put one in the upper right from near the 18 with an assist by Mattia Giangrande (SO/Cisterna Di Latina, Italy).  Less than a minute later, the Wildcats responded with a goal that was redirected off the crossbar from outside of the 18. The game entered tied 1-1 at the half.

Early in the second half, Baker took down Simone Raiola (JR/Triuggio, Italy) in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Raiola scored, putting the Vikings up 2-1.   

The Viking's held their 2-1 lead until the 70th minute when Baker put two goals away in less than two minutes.  Grand View then responded shortly after in the 76th minute when David Gomez (SR/Marshalltown, IA) scored a breakaway goal to tie the game at 3-3.  Less than 30 seconds later, Baker put the game away scoring on a header off a throw-in. Grand View was unable to put another one away, falling 4-3 to the Wildcats.

The Vikings recorded 15 shots to the Wildcats 16. Patrick Zwingenberger (FR/Mannheim, Germany) recorded two saves for the Vikings playing the full 90 minutes.

Grand View will host Mount Mercy September 26 with a kickoff time set for 7:30 pm.
