Kansas City, Missouri – The Grand View University Viking football team moved up one spot to the No. 8 spot in the latest NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

The Vikings are now 3-1 overall but have yet to compete against a Heart of America Divisional opponent. Last week, they traveled on the road to take on the Avila University Eagles. They wasted little time putting the heat on the Eagles, and by the 2nd half, the game was already in hand. The Vikings defeated the Eagles 69-7.

The Viking offense has shredded their opponents through a lethal air attack. Quarterback Jordan Knock (SR/Gilbert, IA / Gilbert HS) is ranked #2 nationally in total passing yards, tied for 3rd in passing touchdowns with 16, and is ranked #8 in passing efficiency. Wide Receiver Alex Brammer (SR/Ames, IA / Ames HS) continues to be one of the best receivers in the country. He is tied for 1st in receiving touchdowns with 7 and is ranked #5 in total receiving yards.

Another bright spot for the Vikings has been the kicking game of Eric Fridl (FR/New Berlin, WI/ Catholic Memor). The freshman holds a perfect field goal percentage at 100% and ranks as the 3rd-highest individual for total scoring via kicking with 30 points.

Saint Francis (Ind.) was a unanimous pick at the top spot for the 5th-straight poll in a row. Other Heart of America teams that made the Top 25 Poll were: Baker (2), Benedictine (14), MidAmerica Nazarene (22), and Peru State (RV). The full rankings can be seen below.

The Vikings return to the field on Saturday, September 23rd against the Missouri Valley Vikings at 12:00 p.m. at Duke Williams Stadium in Des Moines.  This will be homecoming for Grand View. The homecoming schedule can be viewed here. Check back with for a complete recap and follow the Vikings on social media (@VikingAthletics) for in-game updates.
