Hastings, NE – (RV) Grand View men's soccer bounced back after a tough loss to No. 4 Hastings to defeat Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) 5-0. The Vikings improve to 2-2-1 on the season.

Throughout the first half, neither team was able to find the back of the net. Grand View outshot Our Lady of the Lake 5-1.  The Vikings quickly changed the tempo of the game in the second half, scoring five goals within five minutes to win the game.

Mattia Giagrande put the Vikings on the scoreboard in the 72nd minute off a free kick. Claudio Repetto followed with another goal shortly after in the 78th minute off a PK.

Less than a minute later, Simone Raiola took the ball himself to make it a 3-0 lead for the Vikings. McDonald Tshwranang added the fourth goal in the 83rd minute. David Gomez had the final goal for the Vikings, chipping the goalie in the 87th minutes to make it a 5-0 victory.

The Vikings racked up a total of 17 shots in the match, and ten of those were on frame. The Saints totaled nine shots, and five of those were on goal. Patrick Zwingenberger played the entire game in goal for the Vikings and recorded four saves. Gomez, Repetto, and Raiola each had four shots for Grand View.

A total of 27 fouls were committed in the match – 15 by GVU and 12 by OLLU.

The Vikings will open conference play September 16 against Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
