Des Moines, IA – Grand View started their home opener with a 1-0 victory over No. 23 Robert Morris (Ill) this Saturday, August 26 at James Cownie Complex. 

The game remained scoreless the first half as both teams battled to find the back of the net. Thirty-three minutes into the second half Grand View was able to connect well in their offensive end of the field and take a 1-0 lead. Ella Ritchie (SR/Derby, England) dropped the ball out of the box to Kiley Kisling (SR/Ames, IA) who found the back of the net for the Vikings.

Grand View outshot the Eagles 10-8 and put 8 on frame. Caitlyn Dayton (SR/Crystal Lake, IL) recorded four saves for the Vikings and earned the win.

The Vikings were in action again Sunday, August 27, where they fell to St. Ambrose University out of Davenport.

The game remained 0-0 until 22 minutes into the second half when the Fighting Bee's capitalized on an opportunity. Grand View committed a foul in their defensive half awarding St. Ambrose a free kick. Madison Volpert delivered a ball in the air into the box and Elizabeth Shealy was able to head the ball into the back of the net.

Grand View in now 2-1 on the season and will host (RV) Cardinal Stritch University September 2 at 5 p.m.
