KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Grand View football will enter the 2017 season ranked No. 9 in the NAIA Football Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll announced Monday evening. Grand View is one of four Heart of America Athletic Conference teams ranked in the top 25. No. 2 Baker, No. 12 Missouri Valley and No. 23 William Penn joined the Vikings in the rankings.

Grand View has been part of the Heart conference the past two seasons, claiming the North Division champion both years. The Vikings open the campaign at home with a special kickoff on Thursday, August 24 against Evangel at Duke Williams Stadium starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Vikings have six defensive and seven offensive starters returning including Heart Offensive Player of the Year quarterback, Jordan Knock. Jake Shoultz, Jevon Willis, and Jeremy Johnson will lead the Vikings on defense with Knock, Josh Roberts, Jake Quirk, Alex Brammer, Trey Smith, Jake Grau and Marshall Clark leading the Viking offensively.

• The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences.

• Each conference is given one rater for every four schools in the league.

• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 25 points for each first-place vote, 24 for second-place and so on through the list.

• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.

• Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
