Des Moines, Iowa- SCHEDULE | PROGRAM - Grand View men's and women's outdoor track and field will compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Meet this Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, hosted by William Penn in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The Vikings will compete in 40 different events. 

Grand View will try and defend its title at the 2017 Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.The Vikings tallied 138 points last season, edging Benedictine by just 5.5 points. MNU (118) and Baker (107) were also within striking distance at the 2016 event and bring strong squads into this season's championship.

Two of the Athletes of the Year from last season return to try and add to their individual resumes. Lucy Leighton of Benedictine was the Track Co-Athlete of the Year and will try to defend her 1,500m crown, while Grand View's Taylor Wells was named the Field Athlete of the Year after winning the discus and the javelin.

A total of nine individuals are scheduled to attempt to repeat as individual champions in 10 different events. Wells is the only returning multiple-event winner, while Brenda McCollum of Baker tries to claim her third-straight championship in the race walk.

William Penn will be providing a video stream through its Stretch Internet portal (https://portal.stretchinternet.com/wpu/) of all running events. Selected field events will also be made available via Facebook Live on the WPU Athletics account (https://www.facebook.com/WPUAthletics/).
