The Grand View men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Jim Dutcher Memorial over the weekend held at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.

The women's team had several top three finishes as well as school records including senior Katie Roberts (Ankeny, Iowa) with her first place finish in the 800m. Robert's time of 2:17.91 was the fastest time posted in the Heart of America so far this season. Senior Taylor Wells (Des Moines, Iowa) had a second place finish in the javelin as she hit a NAIA A standard with her throw of 40.98m. The 4x100 relay team of freshman Dimetrea Hamilton (Des Moines, Iowa), junior Ronnoja Ayers (Des Moines, Iowa), junior Jamie Barry (Maynard, Iowa), freshman Allie Flaws (Webster City, Iowa) set a school record with their third place finish in 48.59. Ayers also set a Grand View record and finished third in the 200m dash with her time of 25.21. Hamilton and Flaws added two more third place finishes for the Vikings in the 100m hurdles (14.87) and 100m dash (12.62), respectively. The Vikings 4x800m relay posted the fastest time in the Heart this season with their time of 9:58.41. The team included Roberts, senior Natalie Potts (Altoona, Iowa), senior Kida Kak (Des Moines, Iowa), junior Erin Wenzel (Clinton, Iowa).

On the track, the men's team posted a first place and season best time of 3:30.72 in the 4x400m relay with senior Bryon Christensen (Johnston, Iowa), freshman Brandon Albaugh (Bondurant, Iowa), senior Danton Irelan (Ottumwa, Iowa) and senior Clay Cory (Elkhart, Iowa). Sophomore Jorden Nathan (Ankeny, Iowa) and senior Rhett Gainey (Monroe, Iowa) each picked up third place finishes in the 400m hurdles (56.14) and the 3000m steeplechase (10:17.87), respectively. In the field events, senior Taylor Mitchell (Des Moines, Iowa) placed second in the javelin with this throw of 51.17m.

Grand View competes at home this Friday (April 28) as they host the Viking Classic. Events will be held at Williams Stadium and will begin at 12 p.m.
