(21)Grand View

Des Moines, Iowa- No. 21 Grand View softball sweeps both games Wednesday, April 19th, against Baker University playing at home.

The Vikings won game one with a score of 1-0 against Baker. There was no score on the board until the 4th inning when Lexie Biehl (JR/Maquoketa, Iowa)  hit a homerun, scoring the only run of the game.  Kristen Webb (SR/Pleasant Hill, IA) played well defensively as well. Claudia Farrell  (JR/Des Moines, IA) recorded the win, gave up no runs, and struck out 13 of the 25 batters faced.

Grand View pulled out a win in game two with a final score of 3-0. The Vikings started the game out strong scoring the first run in the bottom of the second inning. From there, they scored another run in both the sixth and seventh innings to close out the game. Both Devin Brown (SR/Indianola, Iowa)  and Alyssa Childress (SR/Dyer, IN) lead the team offensively recording a RBI each. Kelsey Winnett (SO/Coon Rapids, Iowa) Biehl and Stanzy Snyder (JR/Johnston, IA) all brought in one run each to win the game for the Vikings. Libby Yenger (SO/Indianola, Iowa) (SO/Inidanola, IA) recorded the win for the Vikings pitching all 7 innings. She gave up no earned runs off 3 hits and struck out 2 of the 24 batters faced at the mound for the Vikings.

The Vikings are in action again Friday, April 21st, against Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
