The Viking women shot a school record 337 on day two of the Viking Classic to place second in the Viking Classic behind DMACC. The women were paced by sophomore Molly Engleman (Cresco, Iowa) who placed 4th overall with a 86 - 84 = 170. The Vikings were a model of consistency on day two with Amalia Mejia (Colombia South America) and Amanda West (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) each shooting 83. Followed by Engleman with an 84 and Mackenzie Bourke (Ames, Iowa) with an 87.
"I couldn't be happier with the team. We are dramatically improved from a year ago. Freshmen Mejia and West combined with our returning players Mackenzie Riedell (Des Moines, Iowa), Bourke, and Kelsey Sheeks (Bondurant, Iowa) have really given us the opportunity to compete at a much higher level. The women are coming along faster than I had anticipated and deserve a lot of credit. They have worked extremely hard in the off-season and are driven to improve," said Viking head coach Chris Winkel.
