Women's Soccer - Fri, Apr. 14, 2017

Des Moines, Iowa- The Grand View women's soccer program is pleased to announce the addition of Raquel Anderson, daughter of Jeff and Betty Anderson to the 2017-18 roster. Anderson played for Valley High School where she was coached under Rob Chapman. She was a 3-year defensive letter winner at Valley High School.

To go along with lettering three years, she has achieved many different honors both academically and in soccer. Anderson was the Defensive MVP sophomore year on JV and primary right back on the varsity team which made it to the semifinals in 2015. Her team also made it to state in 2016. She was the primary center back on the Sporting Iowa Team. She was a semifinalist in the WDMCS in 2016 and a State Cup Champion in 2017. Anderson's academic honors consisted of receiving a silver cord.

Head coach Ventsi Stoimirov is excited about Anderson's commitment, ""I am looking forward to having Raquel play for our program this fall. She is a player who understands the value of working hard and growing through the ranks of strong programs and she has shown that commitment both with Valley High School and Sporting Iowa. Raquel is an intelligent player who reads the game well, but also has the mentality required to play as defender. She is not afraid to go into a hard tackle and when she has possession of the ball she plays simple and decisive. Raquel is a versatile player and her ability to play both as center back and as a full back will be very good asset for our program."

Anderson plans to study Criminal Justice while she is here playing soccer at Grand View.
