The Grand View Vikings women's golf team recently competed in the Baker University Spring Tournament at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence, Kansas Monday and Tuesday where they finished in 2nd place as a team led by Maria Mantilla (Bogota, Colombia) and Kimberly Nelson (Malaysia) who tied for 1st place as individuals.

As a team the Vikings finished only behind winner Columbia College (Mo.) who shot a two round total of 658 which was five strokes ahead of the Vikings who shot a team total of 663. Host Baker University rounded out the top three shooting a 686.

Mantilla and Nelson paced the Vikings with their tournament best two round totals of 157 which was four strokes better than the runner up golfer. Emily Wagner (Casey, Iowa) finished in 6th place with a two round total of 169.

Tessa Swacker (Waterloo, Iowa) took 16th place with a total score of 180 while Kenzie Nossaman (Pella, Iowa) placed 25th with a 199.

The ladies will be back on the course April 21-23 as they take part in a tournament hosted by Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa. Check back with gvvikings.com for a complete recap from the tournament and follow the Vikings on social media for the most up to date information.
