The Grand View men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Concordia Invitational in Seward, Nebraska over the weekend. The Vikings came away with several school records and NAIA qualifying marks.

Women's highlights from the weekend include freshman Dimetrea Hamilton (Des Moines, Iowa) in the 100m hurdles with a third place finish time of 14.79. Hamilton's time was NAIA B standard national qualifying time and broke the Grand View school record. Hamilton currently has the third fastest time in the Heart this season and the 20th fastest time in the NAIA. Senior Taylor Wells Wells (Des Moines, Iowa) placed fifth in the discus in a loaded field of throwers that produced four of the top five marks in the NAIA this season.  Her mark of 46.76m was a season's best and is currently the top mark in the conference by over six meters.  Wells currently has the fifth best mark in the NAIA.

The women's team had several other top five performances including a second place finish from senior Katie Roberts (Ankeny, Iowa) in the 800m with a time of 2:20.42 and a third place finish in the 200m from junior Ronnoja Ayers (Des Moines, Iowa) (25.56). Ayers also placed fourth in the 400m (58.64), while freshman Allie Flaws (Webster City, Iowa) had a fifth place finish in the 100m with a time of 12.68.

Men's highlights include sophomore Jorden Nathan (Ankeny, Iowa) who posted a season's best time of 55.94 seconds, placing third in the 400m hurdles.  Nathen's time is currently the third best time in the Heart this season.  He also posted a season's best time of 15.46 seconds in the prelims of the 110m hurdles, placing eighth in the finals. Sophomore Jacob Goeller (Fairbank, Iowa) placed second in the discus with an NAIA A standard national qualifying mark and Grand View school record with his throw of 52.33m. His mark is currently the second best in the Heart and the third best mark in the NAIA this season.  He also posted season's best marks in the shot put, hammer, and javelin. 

Other notable finishes from the men's squad include senior Taylor Mitchell (Des Moines, Iowa) who hit a fifth place NAIA A standard qualifying mark of 48.89 in the discus. Mitchell also had a fourth place finish in the javelin with a throw of 49.73m. Sophomore Daniel Headley (Melbourne, Fla.) hit season best marks with his sixth place finishes in both the long jump (6.54) and triple jump (13.68m). In the 400m, seniors Bryon Christensen (Johnston, Iowa) and Clay Cory finished fourth (50.87) and fifth (51.02), respectively, while Rhett Gainey (Monroe, Iowa) placed fourth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:11.67. In addition, sophomore Clay Siefken (Burlington, Iowa) hit two NAIA B standard qualifying marks in both the discus (47.79m) and the hammer (52.00m).

The Vikings will compete at their home venue this Friday (April 14th) as they host the Grand View NAIA Midwest Quad. Events will start at 11 a.m. at Williams Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
