Iowa City, Iowa- The Vikings traveled to the University of Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes in a closed 6-5 loss off a seventh inning HR. The Vikings remain 4-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and move to 12-9 overall. 

The Vikings struck first in the game, plating three runs in the second inning against Hawkeye starter Grant Judkins.  Judkins alternated outs and hit by pitches on the first four batters of the inning before Damon Nuss (JR/Sumner, Iowa) had an RBI single to centerfield to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead. Tyler Smith (FR/South Africa) followed with a two-run single down the left field line to push the Grand View lead to 3-0.

Iowa was able to come back in the third and fourth innings, pushing five runs across the plate. After the Vikings tied the game with a two-run seventh inning, Adams hit a one-out solo home run off the light pole in left center field against GVU reliever Parker Thode (FR/Ottumwa, Iowa).

Sam Wadsworth (SR/Grimes, Iowa) pitched a strong first two innings giving up no runs and only one hit. Dante Huffcutt-Grant (SR/West St. Paul, Minnesota) also pitched a strong two innings of relief giving up no runs and one hit while recording three strikeouts.

Grand View combined for a total of five hits coming from Nuss, Smith, Josh Luna (FR/Pleasantville, Iowa), Dustin Nelson (JR/Mondovi, Wisconsin), and Jack Haller (JR/Urbandale, Iowa).  Smith went 1-4 with 2RBI and Haller went 1-3.

The Vikings are back on the road this coming weekend for a four-game series against Mount Mercy University. Both Saturday's and Sunday's double headers will start at 1pm.
