The Grand View Vikings women's golf team hosted the Primm Battle this past Monday and Tuesday at Primm Valley Resort in Primm, Nevada taking 13th place out of 15 teams.

The ladies shot a two round total of 669 after rounds of 335 and 334 as a team. #2 Keiser University (Fla.) won the event shooting a one over par 588 as a team which was five strokes ahead of second place finisher and 9th ranked Embry Riddle (AZ). #13 Texas Wesleyan rounded out the top three shooting a team total of 608.

Individually Kimberly Nelson (Malaysia) led the way for Grand View finishing in 11th place shooting a two round total of 150. Maria Mantilla (Bogota, Colombia) was not far behind shooting a 157 after two rounds which was good enough for tied for 27th place.

Lyndie Phillips finished 70th after shooting a 180 while Tessa Swacker (Waterloo, Iowa) shot a 187 which was good enough for 73rd place. Emily Wagner (Casey, Iowa) finished on spot behind her in 74th place after shooting a 191.

"I thought overall we played pretty well," said head coach Chris Winkel. "It is still early in the year for our women's team it being only our second event of the spring. There were some good signs that our team performance this spring wil continue to improve over last fall. Individually Kim Nelson played very well finishing  just outside the top ten with one of the strongest tournament fields in the country.  Maria Mantilla also played well and I look for her to have a strong remainder of the spring season," added Winkel.

The Vikings will be back on the course April 9-11 as Baker University hosts a tournament at Eagle Bend Golf Club in Lawrence, Kansas. Check back with gvvikings.com for continued women's golf coverage and follow the Vikings on social media for the most current information.
