The 14th ranked Grand View Vikings men's golf team recently hosted The Primm Battle tournament in Primm Valley, Nevada at the Primm Valley Resort this past Monday and Tuesday finishing tied for 10th out of 18 teams.

As a team the Vikings shot a three round total of 889 which tied them with Northwestern College (Iowa), Bellevue University (Neb.), The Master's University (Cali.), and Rocky Mountain College (Mont.). The Vikings shot rounds of 297, 295, and 297. #1 Oklahoma University won the tournament with a team score of 852, three strokes ahead of #5 Keiser University and 11 strokes ahead of third place finisher and 8th ranked Johnson and Wales (Fla.).

Individually, brothers Mitch and Myles Pfingsten (Fairmont, Minn.) led the way as Mitch finished tied for 8th posting a three round total of three under par 213. Myles was just three strokes behind finishing 17th place with an even par 216.

Dan Bredernitz (Mapleton, Ill.) shot a 232 to finish tied for 72nd along with Sachin Gupta (Grimes, Iowa) who also posted a 232. Hunter Van Veen (Monroe, Iowa) finished tied for 74th place and just one stroke behind Bredernitz and Gupta with a 233 total score.

"We just haven't been able to put it all together to have the kind of team results we expect," said head coach Chris Winkel. "This was a very big tournament and a chance for us to take a step forward in our development. Individually Mitch Pfingsten had another strong showing finishing in the top ten and Myles Pfingsten finished up with two strong rounds. We will just have to build on the positives and learn from our failures if we want to achieve the success we expect," added Winkel.

Grand View will take to the course again April 1-3 as they compete in the NAIA Golf Week in Orlando, Florida. Check back with gvvikings.com for continued men's golf coverage and follow the Vikings on social media for the most current information.
