Grand View women placed 3rd advancing to the Intercollegiate National Team Championships

Addison, IL- The Grand View men's and women's bowling teams competed in one of four sectionals held this past weekend. The women placed third, advancing to nationals and the men missed the national qualification by 72 pins, placing fifth. There four sectionals held across the country to determine who advances to the Intercollegiate National Team Championships. The top four men's and women's teams out of each sectional advance to the championships.

At the end of day one and 32 baker games the men, Nathan Maciejewski (SR/Dyer, Indiana), Ryan Felton (SR/Des Moines, Iowa), Dacoda Ewalt (SR/Marshalltown, Iowa) (JR/Ankeny, Iowa), Luke Schroeder (SR/Farley, Iowa), Lane Richtsmeier (JR/Iowa Falls, Iowa), Luke Fisher (JR/Altoona, Iowa), and Sam Cantrell (SO/Citrus Heights, California), sat in fifth with a team total of 6,272 a 196 average. On day two the men advanced to second but could not hold the spot and ended fifth for the day with a baker total of 6,473 a 203 average. Grand View had a combined two-day total of 12,745 a 200 average for the tournament.

The women's team was also in fifth after day one and shot a team total of 6000, a 188 average for the 32 baker games. On Sunday, the Vikings were able to shoot a 32 baker game set of 6,462, a 202 average for the day. This set gave Grand View a combined two day total of 12,462 a 195 average, placing them third overall for the tournament and advancing them to the Intercollegiate National Team Championships held in Baton Rouge, LA. April 19th -22nd.

The Vikings competed against 64 other teams to earn a spot in the top 16 to advance to the Intercollegiate National Team Championships. Hannah Munson (JR/Cottage Grove, Minnesota), Rebecca Broerman (JR/Mason City, Iowa), Kayleigh Duff (JR/Des Plaines, Illinois), Amanda Duplan (SO/Citrus Heights, California), Makayla Ericksen (SO/Burnsville, Minnesota), Rileigh Fagan (SO/Plainfield, Illinois) , Melissa Wucherpfennig (So/Rosemonth, Minnesota), and Jessica Sellers (SO/Dyer, Indiana) will all travel to compete for the Vikings.

Munson also made Grand View history, being the first Grand View women's bowler to advance to the Intercollegiate National Singles Championships. Munson finished second overall in a field of 136 women with a six game team total of 1264, a 210 average. Munson will be bowling April 18th-19th prior to competing with her team in the team event. Also giving a good run was Duplan who finished 15th, missing the cut by 15 pins and on the men's side, Cantrell finished 11th who missed the cut by 9 pins.

Nine Vikings also earned Academic All-American - Sellers, Duplan, Ericksen, Duff, Fagen, Munson, Allison Jones (SO/Davenport, Iowa), Taya July (SO/Davenport, Iowa), and Ewalt.
