OKLAHOMA CITY –   Grand View took 7th place at the NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance (CCD) National Championships held on the campus of Oklahoma City University at Abe Lemons Arena. Today marked the first-ever National Championship in the two sports. The NAIA is the only collegiate athletics association to offer a national championship in these sports. Midland (Neb.) Dance and Oklahoma City Cheerleading held their No. 1 team position after the preliminary rounds and took home the national championship titles today.

On Friday, preliminary scores counted towards 25 percent of a team's overall score. Each team then performed Saturday in the finals where scores counted for 75 percent of the total score.

Head coach a Stacie Horton was proud of the team this weekend, "Judging and scores were tough and tight this year. After the prelim round we took the judges comments and made some slight choreography changes and clarified some style changes.  With the final round the next day and no formal practice this was a risky move, but it worked in our favor as we increased our score by a couple points.  The girls kept up their great attitudes throughout the entire competition focusing on improving their individual performances each time they stepped on the floor and letting go of things that were out of their control."
