The Grand View women's basketball team took the familiar road back to Baldwin City, Kan. Wednesday afternoon to compete in the quarterfinal round of the Heart Conference Tournament. The Vikings closed their regular season at Baker just five days prior. Unfortunately, Grand View was not able to pull off the upset and fell 84-52.

The Vikings got off to a slow start as they found themselves down 17-4 after one quarter of play. During the second and third quarters, the scoring evened out with the Vikings winning the second stanza 16-15 and the Wildcats winning the third 20-19. However, in the final 10 minutes of play, Baker showed their first seed strengths and pulled away for good.

Senior Maddie Westergard (Fort Calhoun, Neb) led all scorers with 18 points and had a team-high seven rebounds while fellow senior Kellie Schmit (Britt, Iowa) recorded nine points. Grand View shot 37% overall and 29% from three compared to Baker's red-hot 50% and 42% from behind the arc. The Vikings recorded only 11 turnovers in the loss while forcing nine.

Grand View's season comes to an end with a record of 15-17. The Vikings say goodbye to four highly-contributing seniors in Westergard, Schmit, Kirsten Larson (Belvidiere, Ill.) and Mariah Hardeman (Arlington, Texas).
